What attracted you towards juggling with charts and numbers?

Numbers can tell you a lot but they can just as easily tell you nothing. It is fascinating because in both cases the numbers still carry value. Either way, they will provide an answer that can either be reassuring, alarming or make you look towards new perspectives. It's a process of trying to connect the dots and looking for the logic behind the numbers. Eventually, it all falls into place when you draw the right lines. I love this harmonious process as it teaches me new things over and over again.

Name two things that are essential to ace your job.

First off, the ability to tell the story behind the numbers. It is vital to create a simple and accessible storyline in order to engage internal and external stakeholders in the company's performance and challenges. Providing a storyline creates a clear view on how the stakeholders can contribute to the company's success. Next, you need to have a deep understanding of the business so you can build and shape a holistic view on the company's value chain to steer the business towards value creation.

What’s the first thought you have when walking into the (remote) office?

Wherever my office will be for the day, at home or in one of our beautiful offices, the first thing that comes to mind is: coffee!
