Simplify legal monitoring: AI at your service.
Saying that legal research can be quite complex is probably one of the understatements of the year. Saying that AI has the power to simplify processes also belongs on that same list of understatements. And we can prove it.
At one of our clients, legal experts would check the Belgisch Staatsblad (Belgium’s Official Gazette) every single day to figure out of if any new legislations could impact their clients. This meticulous process involved a whole team of legal experts devoting an hour a day to make sure no vital information would slip through the cracks.
But what if there was a way to automate or streamline this time- and labor-intensive task? Enter our solution: an AI-powered tool designed to automate the process of monitoring and analysing the Belgisch Staatsblad.
Here’s how it works:
- Automatic scraping: our tool automatically scrapes the Belgisch Staatsblad for published legislations, ensuring that no updates are missed.
- AI processing: Leveraging the forces of GPT-powered AI, we then categorise each legislation, identify other legislations that are being mentioned (and enrich them with links) and determine which laws are being amended. Additionally, we generate a summary and other useful information, like date of publication or date coming into force.
- Integration: Once we extract and process the data, we store it in a GCP SQL database, allowing for easy access and retrieval. Our backend, powered by Python FastAPI and nginx, ensures robust performance, while the frontend, built with Vue and Vite, offers a user-friendly interface.
In essence, our AI-powered Belgisch Staatsblad tool represents a real-life AI use case in legal research, offering more efficiency and accuracy. As we continue to put AI to work, we remain committed to finding true value and solving actual problems. And we’re proud to have realised this solution for our client.
