Enabling sustainable customer choices with Greenchoice's unified data strategy
Greenchoice, a leading Dutch sustainable energy supplier, faced challenges with vast amount of data across their operations, limiting their ability to make data-driven decisions aligned with their customer-centric and sustainability goals. Through an intensive data science deep dive, we validated key assumptions by aggregating and analysing diverse data sources, uncovering actionable insights that formed the foundation for strategic decision-making. Our collaborative effort resulted in a comprehensive strategic roadmap that bridges the gap between Greenchoice's ambitious vision and practical implementation while maintaining their commitment to privacy-first principles.

01 — CHALLENGE
From large amount of data to customer energy insights
Despite having extensive data assets, Greenchoice needed help to transform fragmented information into actionable insights to help clients make better and more sustainable energy choices. The challenge was to strategically integrate this dispersed data while maintaining strict privacy standards, using only essential information to empower customer decision-making.
02 — SOLUTION
A two-track approach to analytics
We tackled this through two parallel tracks: analysing existing data for immediate insights and upgrading their analytics infrastructure for better future tracking. This approach delivered a clear strategic roadmap and the tools to measure its success, creating a solid foundation for data-driven sustainability initiatives.
03 — APPROACH
Validating customer behaviour patterns in green energy usage
We mapped out Greenchoice's ecosystem and data flows, identifying key value streams and data platform touch points. Based on this analysis, we developed relevant data hypotheses about customer behaviour and sustainability impacts, which we validated through comprehensive data science analysis. This structured approach enabled us to uncover meaningful patterns and opportunities within their existing data assets.
04 — OUTCOME
Turning data into insights for smarter energy choices
Our strategic roadmap prioritised data-backed initiatives and clearly mapped which internal departments needed to collaborate on each initiative. By specifying roles, dependencies, and cross-functional requirements upfront, we ensure a smooth implementation of personalised customer engagement solutions. The roadmap connected sustainability goals to specific departmental responsibilities, from IT and data teams to customer service and marketing, creating clear ownership and accountability for each strategic initiative.
