Meet Frank Verbist, our new CTO!
A new wind breezes down our offices. After Thomas Mons took a step back, we now gladly welcome Frank Verbist as In The Pocket’s new CTO. Frank brings over 14 years of experience as a CTO for companies like Aaqua, Sentiance, In2com & Netmining, so it’s an understatement to say he has earned his stripes.
His passion for innovative technologies, his interest in the people behind the product and his strong leadership capabilities make him a perfect fit for In The Pocket. It’s fair to say that there’s no doubt that he will steer the ship in the right direction. But, just to be sure, we couldn’t keep ourselves from asking him a few straightforward questions.
Why the choice for In The Pocket?
"Everybody I know who ever got in touch with In The Pocket speaks highly about their quality & methodology. I’ve kept an eye on In The Pocket since the time they were just building mobile apps, and I saw how they survived the consolidation in this market and put their stamp on some high-visibility projects. So I’m convinced their product mindset is the way to go."
"Coming from the startup world, I know how hard it is to build effective product teams. Something that, due to talent shortage, is getting harder all the time. But I believe this is where In The Pocket can excel."
"Apart from the situation the world is currently facing, I do believe the biggest challenge will be to control growth and keep quality and efficiency at top levels."
What do you perceive as the main challenge for future years?
"Apart from the situation the world is currently facing, I do believe the biggest challenge will be to control growth and keep quality and efficiency at top levels while staying a great place to work for current and future colleagues. But that’s easier said than done, of course. In this process, we can never forget that the people & teams are our most important assets. If we can’t keep everyone together or fail to take pride in our work, all sophisticated processes are senseless."
"We can never forget that the people & teams are our most important assets."
In which direction do you want to steer the ITP ship?
"I see In The Pocket as a product company. And our strength will only grow through exploiting commonalities between different production projects throughout all levels: actively looking at platform strategies, streamlining processes and optimising duplication. This will require investments and we’ll need to take the smart road to find the right pace."
There’s no doubt that we have exciting times ahead of us, but we’re confident that Frank is the right person to have on our ITP ship. We all wish him the best of luck!
