Keeping track of technologies with our brand new Tech Radar
Keeping track of your companies’ technology ecosystem is hard. Keeping an eye out for promising new technologies even harder. But it’s indispensable to stay relevant in the ever-changing digital world. Our solution? A Tech Radar. And here’s a little extra: it’s publicly available.
An overview of our tech choices
You can take the radar part literally. Like a control tower scans for objects in the air, our tech radar scans technologies in our company. Every bleep on the screen represents a technology, whether it’s used for Cloud, Web, Mobile, ML/AI or XR. When clicked, you get to see a brief summary of the specs:
- Full description
- Current stage: hold - assess - trial - adopt
- Reasoning and motivation behind the stage
- Related use cases
- Recommended alternatives
Our Tech Radar reflects our current view on software engineering technologies. It includes the technology choices we’ve made and motivates why we’ve made them. It also shows which technologies are “on our radar”, and why we consider adopting them.
The tech radar: a living tool
So what’s the purpose here? It’s twofold. Internally, we use our Tech Radar to support innovation, facilitate decision making and enable expertise discoverability. It’s a living tool, continuously supported by our communities of practices.
Externally, we’ll publish key takeaways from our Tech Radar each quarter for all tech lovers out there. We hope to provide you with some guidance, trigger your interest or even spark a debate. After all, choices that are right for our context, aren’t necessarily right in every context. And we always welcome a thought-provoking conversation.
