Meet our Product Strategist, Bo
Every month, we move our spotlight to someone behind In The Pocket's screens. Who are the people behind the digital products? What drives them? And what can they teach us? Joining us on stage this month: Bo, our passionate Product Strategist.
Tell us, what do you create as a strategist?
I try to bring clarity into any given project. Whether it’s creating a journey that visualizes the customer experience, crafting concept designs to paint a product vision or presenting user insights in an actionable way, clarity is of paramount importance for me. I believe strategists only succeed if they can give recommendations that catalyse a project and lift it to the next level.

What does a strategist's toolbox look like?
It’s a tough choice to make, there are so many tools to pick from! Maybe as a general tool or characteristic, visualising insights and recommendations can be extremely powerful to make your suggestions more convincing and accessible.
Next to that, I love user validation as a tool to introduce real customer feedback into the conversation. In that specific context, my favourite tools would be usability testing, where you can learn a lot about how people perceive and use your product, and an exotic test called ‘The Wizard of Oz’, where you fake an intelligent system by putting a real human in the back of real-looking prototype. Exciting stuff!

How do you define your value as a strategist?
Whenever you’ve created some more structure, insights or concept designs that fortifies the project and eases up decision-making. I feel like clients often are amazed by how quickly we’re able to come in with little knowledge of their sector, and in a matter of weeks manage to create a vision steeped in deep insights. That’s what keeps me going in this job, for sure!
