Summer Academy 22: Meet the team
Have you ever met a team this fierce? Probably not. Allow us to introduce you to 9 promising talents who made the cut for Summer Academy 22. Along with the guidance of our coaches, they will wrap their heads around this year’s challenge, provided by Solentra. That’s 4 days to figure out ways to help newcomers and refugees find their way to crucial information and much-needed assistance. Meet the chosen ones!
Lina is a 20-year-old with a passion for travelling and planning. During her studies in Business Management, she discovered a keen interest in social media. She loves walking her dog, Simba, and as the name suggests… Lina is a huge Disney fan. At first sight, she might come over a little shy but when you get to know her, she flourishes. Summer Academy is right up her alley as she continues to search for new, exciting challenges.
Straight out of Greek mythology: meet Muze! This promising young woman is 21 years old and - the name gave it away - absolutely loves dancing. Her other passion for entrepreneurship goes hand in hand with her attitude of always giving 100 per cent. Apart from that, Muze claims to have a dry sense of humour and absolutely loves creative activities. Warning for the other Summer Academists: Muze says she often looks angry, but she isn’t at all.
Say hello to Thibault! This West-Flemish upcoming talent studies New Media Development in Ghent. He’s constantly fiddling with the latest technologies and schools himself to create all kinds of applications. Besides his studies, you can count on him for a lovely evening of drinks or you can join him for one of his many sporting events at his student club. Ready for a session of aquagym, Thibault?
Meet candidate n°4; Brent! One thing you should know about Brent is that creativity takes a central place in his whole life. As a child, he couldn’t stop drawing and imagining stuff the world has never seen before. That creative mind of Brent sure came in handy during his Product Design studies. Furthermore, Brent fits the profile of an optimistic, helpful and occasionally golfing digital superstar. Glad to have you on board!
Allow us to introduce you to Alec. A freshly graduated MCT student at HOWEST. Alec is passionate about everything that revolves around IT and innovation, with a special place for AI. Apart from his geeky side (not our words!), you can ask him about anything that has to do with football, motorsport and cycling. When Alec’s racing on his own bicycle, he’s not only carrying food supplies but also a big bag of experience from his internship in Amsterdam. Welcome to the team!
This badminton-playing, boy scout-leading and digital-loving guy makes the perfect candidate for Summer Academy. No doubt. Siebe graduated in 2022 with a master's in New Media & Society and is already up for a new challenge. His interest in technology and everything digital pushed him to sign up for this year’s Summer Academy. Wise choice, Siebe!
Hail Cesar! Meet the 21-year-old author of a dozen (web) applications, all written in different languages. Cesar learned the tricks of the trade during his years in Kortrijk, studying for Digital Design and Development and in… Washington DC. Armed with his Macbook and a range of Adobe tools, he completed his internship in the capital of the States. Excited about what he has to bring to Summer Academy 22!
Welcome aboard, Lieselot! A developer and UX/UI designer during the week and “juf Lieselot” during the weekends. This jack of all trades has a passion for frontend development, design and UX research. But when she’s not working, she stands in front of the class giving programming lessons and gymnastics lessons to children. Time to put these skills to the test during a 4-day design sprint!
Meet Eline! Freshly graduated from Devine, she’s already jumping on a new challenge without any hesitation. Although Eline was born and raised in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere, she can’t seem to escape the attraction of the city life. Our advice? Don’t take her for any other girl. This lady is not a kitten to handle without gloves.
Good luck to everyone! And don't forget to enjoy the best 4 days of your lives (so far...).
