Venly provides a complete Web3 platform that makes it easy for developers to add any blockchain into their projects. One of their activity domains is NFT wallets. As users often forget PINs and passwords, Venly needed a straightforward and secure way to recover these wallets. Our solution enhances security, eases the pressure on customer support, and simplifies the user experience.

01 — CHALLENGE

Enhancing Security and Efficiency

People struggle with password management, and Venly users were no exception. Because of the precariousness of the contents of Venly’s online wallets, password recovery was no easy feat. Only a select number of Venly execs had the correct credentials to reset passwords and the entire process heavily burdened the support team. Venly wanted a solution that would make life easier for its staff without compromising on security.

02 — SOLUTION

A Seamless Authentication Solution

The solution needed to focus on three key pillars: security, design, and technical implementation. Venly required a unique authentication system that would handle registration, password recovery, and transaction execution, ensuring a safer experience from A to Z.

03 — APPROACH

A Security-First Approach

We kicked off with a workshop to help us better understand how Venly uses encryption. We realised that security would be integral to this project, and we wanted to know how to keep Venly wallets secure and how to make recovery safe. A risk matrix helped us to define Venly’s needs even further.

The rest of the process involved collaborative workshops to create wireframes, align on technical possibilities, and develop new API endpoints. Iterative meetings were held to refine specifications and integrate biometric authentication for transaction signing. Which we were of course happy to build for the client with Flutter, with extra attention to security in the platform-specific aspects for Android and iOS.

04 — OUTCOME

A Smarter Way for Users to Authenticate

Our collaboration with Venly led to a secure solution for biometric identification and password recovery. It has taken a significant burden off of Venly executives as well as the support team and offers an intuitive and accessible way for users to log in and sign transactions.

The solution is akin to two-factor authentication: Venly users initiate a (trans)action from their web account (where they have been logged in) and validate it in the mobile app using biometrics or a PIN code.
