Turning production plant data into accessible insights
We provided Vyncke, an energy plant designer and builder, with the tools to enhance their SMARTPLANT application. Through interviews and workshops, we addressed adoption rate challenges and improved data accessibility and ease of use. Our findings led to strategic, architectural, security, and UX recommendations that transformed Vyncke’s approach, helping them realize the value of their data and their role in the insights ecosystem.

01 — CHALLENGE
Help understanding clients’ needs in order to provide added value
Vyncke designs and builds a dozen or so energy plants each year. Every installation is a massive undertaking, and it comes with mountains of sensors and data. While the company had already built a tool to manage that data, the adoption rate was low and the data was polluted.
Their existing architecture was not future-proof and complicated the setup process. That is why Vyncke asked In The Pocket to help them understand their clients’ needs in order to provide added value.
02 — SOLUTION
Complexity is not a reason to remain idle
It was important for us to understand the reason behind the limited adoption rate and figure out the general concerns Vyncke’s clients had. We learned quickly that every plant is different. So we kept digging. Another primary concern of these clients is security. Designing a secure, easy to use and performant solution were the key goals for this project.
03 — APPROACH
Offering recommendations on strategic, architectural, security, and UX level
We involved stakeholders from sales, engineering, and digital departments to determine the most relevant short-term recommendations with the highest impact.
We looked at user needs, security, and performance and used all these parameters to create basic wireframes and a list of functional requirements. The prototype was then validated during an iterative process.
04 — OUTCOME
Path towards enhanced efficiency and customer satisfaction
After our collaboration, Vyncke was equipped with a comprehensive understanding of the potential value embedded within SMARTPLANT, both for their customers and for Vyncke employees. By providing them with a carefully crafted set of puzzle pieces beyond a UI/front-end upgrade, we empowered Vyncke to recognise the transformative impact SMARTPLANT could have when improved upon.
The roadmap we laid out showed them the intricate yet promising path towards enhanced efficiency and customer satisfaction. We incorporated their business case and corporate strategy to offer a clear view of SMARTPLANT’s true value proposition.
